Sneak Peek: Movies To Watch out for!

January 25, 2011

Mars Needs Moms. In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming “Mars Needs Moms,” nine-year-old Milo (voice of Seth Green) finds out just how much he needs his mom (voice of Joan Cusack) when she’s nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young.

Produced by Robert Zemeckis, the film is based on the children’s book Mars Needs Moms by author and illustrator Berkeley Breathed, a Pulitzer-Prize winner for his comic strip “Bloom County.” The story was inspired by a particular moment of disagreement that took place between his son Milo and his wife.

Opening soon across the Philippines in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular format, “Mars Needs Moms” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

Just Go With It. Columbia Pictures pairs up Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston for the first time in the romantic comedy “Just Go With It.”

In the film, a plastic surgeon (Sandler), romancing a much younger schoolteacher, enlists his loyal assistant (Aniston) to pretend to be his soon to be ex-wife, in order to cover up a careless lie.

When more lies backfire, the assistant’s kids become involved, and everyone heads off for a weekend in Hawaii that will change all their lives.

“Just Go With It” is directed by Dennis Dugan, from a screenplay by Allan Loeb and Timothy Dowling, based on the “Cactus Flower” screenplay by I.A.L. Diamond.

Faster. After 10 years in prison, Driver (Dwayne Johnson) has a singular focus – to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his imprisonment, in Columbia Pictures’ new action-thriller “Faster.”

Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he’s finally on his mission…but with two men on his trail – a veteran cop (Billy Bob Thornton) just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hitman (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) with a flair for the art of killing and a newfound worthy opponent.

The hunter is also the hunted. It’s a do or die race to the list’s finish as the mystery surrounding his brother’s murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver’s list may be incomplete.

The cast of “Faster” is lead by Dwayne Johnson (“The Rundown,” “The Scorpion King”), Billy Bob Thornton (“Eagle Eye”) and newcomer Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Carla Gugino (“Watchmen”), Maggie Grace (“Taken”) and Moon Bloodgood (“Terminator Salvation”).

George Tillman, Jr. (“Men of Honor”) directs from a screenplay written by Joe and Tony Gayton. “Like Driver, I was on a mission – I had to do this movie,” explains Tillman. “I knew this script would take a director with a strong point-of-view, and with an understanding of its value from a universal standpoint. I understood these characters and what it was within this story that could be relatable to audiences. This film is ultimately about letting the past go – only then can you move forward in life. So I set out not just to show visuals, but to address the thematic ideas at the story’s core.”
